What is Remote Focus?

Remote Focus is a feature found in IP cameras with built-in motorized zoom lens. The automated focus allow you to eliminate the needs to physically adjust camera’s zoom and focus. This ability to focus the camera remotely without physically being there makes the system setup simple, easier, and quicker.

What is the advantage of Remote Focus?

In a large deployment of cameras, the auto focus function can be very helpful. There is no need to adjust each camera physically.

Remote focus function also makes it easy to:

Adjust the camera’s field of view (FOV) to find the optimal view of the area for your application e.g. face recognition, license plate recognition.
Correct the camera focus after it is installed which could cause from the effects of natural forces, such as shrink and expand due to operating in a wide range of temperatures and the vibration generated by wind.
Change the monitor area when you have moved the camera to a new application.
Zoom in the camera with no need to physically adjust the lens. Normally this require small and precise adjustment which is hard to practice by hand

How Remote Focus IP Cameras Works

Press the Zoom + button on the control panel to find an best view of interest area you would like to monitor. After a few seconds, the image with clearest focus should be on the screen. Use the Focus “+” or “-” button to finetune the focus if you are not satisfied with the outcome.
